Last week I went for my orientation at Kanyana Wildlife Rehab Center, and Wednesday I start my training. It's only a 35 minute drive and I'll be volunteering one day a week. Last year they took in over 2000 animals, 150 different species, and they return as many to the wild as possible. The meeting was at night so we got to see some of the nocturnal animals, including woylies, bilbeys, boodies, echidnas, and tawny frog mouths. Oz has some truly strange animals, and the director said we will be seeing things we've never seen before. To be honest, I have never even heard of most of the ones we saw the first night, so I'm sure it will be something new for me almost every time I go out there.
